2019 - 2021 Board of Directors

According to Petsmart Charities Rescue Group Best Practice Guides, “Rescue Groups should be run just like any other business. With a solid foundation in place… allowing you to bring in more animals and save more lives.”

Our Board of Directors truly believes in this and for this reason, this Board was elected with the goal to go from a working board to a non-working board. The only way in which we can do this, is with the help of our volunteers.

According to the Best Practice Guide, “Every rescue group needs 3 layers of support to build a team. At the top the board of directors. These are the members who oversee the strategic direction, or long-term planning, of an organization.” Our membership has elected the Board of Directors.

Growth Team Co-Chairs

“The next layer consists of staff… who runs the day-to-day operations of the rescue group.,” HSSC refers to these volunteers as our Growth Team Co-Chairs (GTCs). Our GTC’s will be given, “… a sense of ownership, responsibility, and appreciation for the hours they contribute.” These GTC’s will be referred to as our dedicated “staff”.


“The final layer of your team is the volunteers – people who help out on a regular basis by supporting the staff (GTCs). Whether they foster animals, help out at adoption events, transport animals to veterinarian appointments or participate in countless other activities, volunteers are the lifeblood of any rescue group.”
